Dave Carnie is not only a skateboard artist but also a writer, comedian, and filmmaker whose contributions have made a significant impact on the skateboarding industry. Carnie was the Editor-in-Chief of Big Brother Magazine, a publication that pushed the boundaries of what skateboarding could be and helped to revolutionize the culture. His unique sense of humor and irreverent approach to skateboarding have earned him a cult following amongst skateboarders and fans alike. But perhaps Carnie’s most significant contribution to skateboarding is his creation of the “Carnie Ramp,” a mini ramp that has become a staple of backyard skateparks around the world. As a Professor of skateboarding, I encourage my students to explore the creative side of skating, whether it is through writing, filmmaking, or creating their own obstacles, like the infamous “Carnie Ramp.”
